While Black History Month is often seen as a time to look backwards, Facebook Watch came to us with a different mission: highlighting the future of Black music and focus on those making history today including John Legend, Chance the Rapper, Yara Shahidi, Erykah Badu and others.

For the :30s announcement spot and :15s episodic promos our scripts leaned into the power of the voices coming together to share their stories and their music. To do this, we developed modular “we” language to show the different ways in which these creators were impacting culture and to showcase the collective strength of Black artists.

The four-part event was streamed by 24.7 million people and served as a platform for multiple artists to showcase their talents and share their stories with fans. We were thrilled to help make this vital celebration of Black artists, and excellence come to life.
